You will find a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at Faulkner Road. Our support workers can show you around on your first visit - just come along when it is open, you don’t have to make an appointment or be referred by a social worker or doctor. We know it can be difficult coming to an unfamiliar building and meeting new people so, if you wish, you can phone beforehand so we can look out for your arrival, or you can arrange to have a look around and meet the support workers when the service isn’t running. The building itself is a semi-detached house so the rooms are a friendly size, and there is also a conservatory and garden (where you can smoke – there’s a shelter for wet weather). There’s a TV room and a radio/CD player in another room, plus access to computers/internet, so whether you want to chat with others or have some quiet time on your own you should be able to find the level of support you need.
There is a women only session held on Friday afternoons between 11-30pm and 2pm facilitated by two female volunteers. As well as the opportunity to socialise in a safe and friendly atmosphere there is the opportunity to discuss issues that affect women. Meals are available on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The Wednesday “Eat and Meet” is a cooked meal and on Sunday there is a Sunday dinner - roast, potatoes, and vegetables. Snack food, such as beans on toast or sandwiches, and a cooked meal are available on Saturday lunchtimes. On all meal days there are vegetarian/vegan options.

The art/crafts group is on Thursdays, in the morning, between 10am and 12-30pm. Projects or activities are usually decided by the group themselves and have included, as well as drawing and painting, crafts such as mosaics, clay modelling, glass painting etc. You can also bring your own art or craft to work on if you prefer. Like the other arts activities you don’t need to have tried it before, it’s an enjoyable and fun way to have a go at something you might not have considered before. A wide variety of styles are played and decided upon by the group members.
