Information can be accessed in a variety of ways: phone, email, Facebook Messenger and in-person at our main building in Faulkner Road. Advice can be offered to those with a diagnosed mental health problem, or to those seeking to maintain their mental wellbeing and to family, friends and carers of someone coping with mental health issues. Our staff aren’t qualified to make diagnoses or recommend a particular medication or treatment, but we can offer information and guidance on particular diagnoses, treatments or on what options may be open to you to help you understand or make a choice on what is being offered to you by mental health professionals in the NHS and elsewhere.

Again, although our staff aren’t legally qualified, we can provide information on your rights under the Mental Health Act, including sectioning, and guide you towards the statutory advocacy provided under both this Act and the Mental Capacity Act. We would always advise anyone to consult their doctor for help with mental health issues, but we can provide information on whether our own support services, such as counselling, might be appropriate, or on what other non- medical support is around, eg support groups or specialist helplines/websites etc. As mental health is as much a part of our lives as our physical health we are able to provide information on mental wellbeing generally, not just on where medical or more formal support is needed. Our specialist outreach and benefits/financial advice service, including help with debt (we’re registered with the Financial Conduct Authority for this) can help your mental wellbeing by tackling the practical issues that can cause your mental health to deteriorate.
